[MTC Global] Year end knowledge sharing

Dedar MTCians                                                                                                     30th December, 2013

As 2013 draws closer, I am sharing a personal experience on Time Discipline, which would be useful to our members. .

I was working as Regional Manager, AP for Unicorp Industries Ltd, a Delhi based Compaq distributor, IT hardware systems integration & services company from 1994 to 98. In our office at Methodist complex, Abids, Hyderfabad , 2 employees, Ramana & Sailesh were always present before time by 9 or 9 15 AM though office started at 9 30 AM. Whether they had breakfast or not , unwell, some personal issues, traffic jams, vehicle breakdowns, not in a mood - they were there, made it before office opened. They never gave an excuse for delays as there was no need to. In 3 years from 1995-98, they were absent for hardly a week - that too for a genuine reason like ill health, ceremony at home, anything critical, etc. Well, this is apart from the weekends, holidays, annual leave, other entitlements, etc.

After they left Unicorp from 1998 onwards todate , both of them were never UNEMPLOYED EVEN FOR A SINGLE DAY.
The IT industry went through many ups & downs in last 15 years but that did not affect them. I know so many professionals , being in between jobs or looking for jobs. Today, Ramana is with HP India at Hyderabad & Sailesh went to Singapore, worked for 6 years, moved to Sydney , joined Citi Bank - both working for several years now.

That is the Power of Time Discipline . Many people have a strong potential, sound knowledge, good domain expertize, high IQ, wonderful network, excellent comm skill. But they are always delayed, give excuses & do not realize their potential owing to lack of Time Discipline. ETERNAL LATECOMERS LOSE OUT IN LIFE.

"The surest way to be late is to have plenty of time." – Leo Kennedy -

Students must be present in the class by 9 AM when class starts at 9 30. Employees of private or public sector, Faculty, Professionals should in office by 7 45/ 8 45 , when office begins at 8/ 9. Bank employees, Govt officers & staff must be in their seats by 9 30 AM , when office starts at 10 AM. This is irrespective of being monitored or not. That is Integrity.

And, eternal latecomers must be suitably penalized.

Firstly, let us develop a Time Discipline. Value our Time & Others Time.
Then, our Work gets done, so also others. India moves forward.

This is what I learnt. This can also be the first slogan for 2014. Members can opine.

thanks & regards

Ramesh Vemuganti
