Job Title: Performance Engineer
Location: Jersey City, NJ
Duration: 6+ Months
 
Senior Capacity and Performance Engineer for DWH 

1. Measure/baseline each DWH batch job stream independently and profile resource requirements, execution time and determine optimal run time based on dependencies and both internal and external downstream requirements. There are approximately 10 key jobstreams. 
2. After “baselining” and reviewing optimal schedules, review and identify any system (CPU, Memory, I/O) bottlenecks as well as DB2 system recommendations. 
a. Work with Applications team and DBAs to identify long running SQL queries for optimization for “as is” system 
3. Review new EDWH design and batch schedules and recommend any changes based on analysis of “current As-Is system” 
4. Compare and contrast performance between the AIX P6 and AIX P7 environments for critical job streams and “all jobs in the critical path”. 
5. Model impact of upgrade from AIX P6 to AIX P7 
6. Measure/Monitor and identify bottlenecks/recommend system tuning for new EDWH job streams executing in SIT and UAT phase. 
7. Provide on-going models and recommendations in SIT and UAT for batch schedule optimization 

The Capacity/Performance Engineer should have strong AIX performance and tuning background, capacity planning for AIX and Storage and some DB2 performance tuning. This consultant will work within the Capacity and Performance Engineering team working with applications and DBAs on performance optimization and will require strong and verbal and written communication skills. 

• The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in the operation and support of infrastructures supporting n-tier applications 
• Skilled in the collection and interpretation of server performance metrics on multiple server platforms and technologies, including Linux/Unix. Proficiency with a capacity management tool such as TeamQuest is a plus 
• Broad exposure to IT infrastructure components (servers, networks, storage, etc. ) and a solid understanding of their associated capacity and performance indicators.
