Job Title: Hadoop Administrator  
Job Location: St. Louis  MO
12+ months contract

 

Work as part of a team to handle advanced support activities of Hadoop.
Advanced support involves identifying opportunities to improve efficiencies in the environment.
Administration includes managing installation, configuration, upgrades and migration of Hadoop.
Understanding, troubleshooting and managing HDFS, HBASE, PIG, Oozie, Hive, Hoop and sqoop will be a critical aspect of the job.
Troubleshooting performance issues will also be an important skill. Utilize Linux scripting to automate tasks.
Improve procedures and monitoring.
Provide on-call, remote, emergency support.
Some weekend work. 
How much on call/after hour support is required?: “There will be some after hour work expected during upgrades and resolving critical issues. I would estimate at most 25 hours more per month especially if an upgrade occurs during that month. Also we have resources in India to assist with some Hadoop work. It will be up to the candidate to pass the work off in the evenings”

Must have 4 years US-based work experience
