A leading interdealer broker is seeking a Desktop Engineer consultant to lead a windows desktop migration.
This includes operating system deployment, user file migration, application installation utilizing app-v, SCCM, and active directory. The candidate will also be responsible for providing project reporting and status.
Day in the Life:
Utilization of Microsoft SCCM infrastructure and understanding of how the imaging process works
Imaging of multiple computers at a time
Intimate knowledge of Active Directory Users and Computers management
Understanding of App-V and how it integrates with SCCM using application and device collections
Management of inventory to facilitate swing migration using spare hardware
Deployment of operating system images, applications, and patches via SCCM
Tracking OneDesk key project milestones and adjusting project plans and/or resources
Assembling project plans and teamwork assignments, directing and monitoring work efforts on a daily basis, identifying resource needs, performing quality review; and escalating functional, quality, timeline issues appropriately
Overall coordination, status reporting and stability of project oriented work efforts
Coordinates communication with all areas of the enterprise globally that impacts the scope, budget, risk and resources of the work effort being managed
Identify/Complete problem hand-off to appropriate area(s) of responsibility
Communicate with IT Global Support staff/management to discuss problem status, policies, procedures, and documentation
Work flexible hours, holidays, weekends and occasionally extended hours
Job Requirements: What You Bring to the Team:
5+ years of Desktop Engineering experience as a project lead
Extensive experience imaging/loading various software applications
Experience managing/completing multiple migrations going from Windows XP to Windows 7 OS platform.
Expert knowledge of Desktop Migration process.
Active Directory, Group Policies, Folder Redirection, and Domain User Profile Conversion
SCCM 2012 – application lifecycle management, software updates, reporting. client health management
Operating system deployment w/ Microsoft Deployment Toolkit integration. Knowledge of task sequence methodologies
App-V 5.0 and MSI packaging
User Experience Virtualization (UEV)/MDT/MDOP
PowerShell scripting
Knowledge and experience with Antivirus, Spyware and Firewall applications.
