eCAM Standardized Role and responsibilities for Network Platforms Certification Engineer
• Certify and plan the introduction of new MPLS/IP and Ethernet carrier grade network platforms and technologies to evolve client worldwide network infrastructure. Services supported include VPNs, internet
service, cloud networking, Ethernet/VPLS, mobility, U-Verse, security services, and core network backbone capabilities.
• Develop, write, review, and execute rigorous, detailed test plans, to certify new network equipment and new services/features for the network, and documents test results.
• While focusing on testing new services and features, testing also covers performance and scale, and inter-op testing with other vendor equipment and client systems and tools. May also perform regression testing and develop test automation tools.
• Design the most complex of test environments, and to configure network equipment in a test lab environment to certify the design; documents the configurations; and trains operations personnel on the configurations.
• Partner with vendors to ensure their product quality meets client criteria and to correct product defects.
• Leads troubleshooting and identification of the root cause of the most complex problems, ranging from design issues to vendor technology issues.
• Partners with design engineers to modify designs and detailed router configurations when needed, and with vendors to fix their defects.
• Plans and leads First Field Application (FFA) activities to deploy equipment and network services and features.
• Design, document and lab tests procedures and troubleshooting guides for inserting new IP and Ethernet technology and/or upgrades into client production network.

Network Design and Support Engineer
Purpose: Overall end-to-end design, certification and of network devices and applications. This role includes virtualizating certain network functions like FW, LB, PE, P router, etc. Responsibility:
• Subject matter expert within own discipline/specialty area and basic knowledge of other disciplines / specialty areas
• Applies in-depth knowledge of discipline/specialty area standards and processes to work
• Guided by project and work deadlines
• Uses discretion to complete assignments, independently applying knowledge of technical practices and specialty area standards
• Independently completes assignments and participates in projects of diverse scope
• Supports technical initiatives normally as part of a larger project
• Works on development of new technologies or maintenance of existing technologies
• Contributes to milestone completion of projects
• Cultivates good working relationships with peers
Skills:
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP concepts
• Must understand and design experience with Routing Protocols
o BGP
o OSPF
o LDP
o MPLS
• Strong understanding of switching concepts
o VLANs
o HSRP/VRRP
• Hands on experience with Cisco IOS and Juniper JunOS switching and routing hardware
• Hands on experience with testing equipment such as Spirent or IXIA is required
• Understanding of IPv6 and experience with IPv6 implementation
• Server OS background is needed – Linux
* Knowledge of virtualization technologies like VMWare, KVM, Openstack
• Network troubleshooting skills
• Good Documentation skills
• Knowledge of creating deployment guides, methods and procedures and troubleshooting guides
• Team player and ability to grasp high level instructions is very important
• Develop and create test beds for evaluating SDN and VNF technolgies in a lab.
• Execute certification tests and create test reports
• Lab support
Education:
• Bachelors/Masters in CE, CSE, EE or CS
