Enough is Enough; Free Maxwell Oben, immediately!!!!!
Ayah Paul Abine and his team have just returned from the Buea Central Prison. It would be recalled that a few days back we published that Oben Maxwell had been arrested and remanded in prison custody incommunicado for an unknown offence. All we had gathered from security sources was that he did write a letter to the churches, requesting them to pray for peace in Cameroun. We were informed two days ago that he had disappeared from the prison; and we promised to find it out today.

When we called this morning, the Superintendent of the Buea Central Prison was not in the office to throw light on the offence for whish Oben was remanded; and on his whereabouts. All that one of his assistants told us is that Oben was transferred to Yaounde on the morning of Thursday, February 20, 2014, and made over to the Commissioner for Government at the Yaounde Military Tribunal.

The puzzle became more puzzling! Military tribunal, and in Yaounde! Is that not but one more instance of Yaounde's illegalities; and contempt for the United Nations and the African Union? We have not forgotten that, in its ruling of 27 May, 2009, the African Commission for Human and People's Rights did recommend that
"215.
1. […] the Respondent State (i.e. the Republic of Cameroun):
"(II) Stops the transfer of accused persons from the Anglophone provinces for trial in the Francophone provinces;"

Only for records!
