Description:
This project is to refactor an in-production wellness application that has been very well-received. Due to its success, the volumes occurring and anticipated are more than the design will handle, so a new team of developers is being brought in to split system components into more modular components that can be run in parallel as well as tuning SQL queries and modifying ETL processes. They are using an Agile approach (new) including 20-50% pair programming for code reviews, TDD, daily scrums, etc. They have an excellent Agile coach on the team. The technical environment is IBM with Java/J2EE, Eclipse, Spring/Ibatis, DB2, Datastage and a proprietary rules engine. The system has many long batch processes and lots of integration.
Responsibilities:
- Reports to Tech Lead
- Back-end Java development and refactoring
- Write and performance-tune complex SQL queries (no need to know DB2 stored procedures or triggers, but that would be nice)
- May work with ETL programmers (Datastage) to assist in performance tuning ELT processes
- No UI work needed
