RE: [MTC Global] [HQ] Sankalp-2014: The Mega Knowledge Sharing event of 2014. Register Now

I completely disagree with the views of Professor Waghodekar. HRD Minister cannot be regarded purely as a political post like CMs and PMs. On the contrary the education sector should be devoid of any political interferences or political ideology and should be guided by the desired vision, mission, strategic objectives and policies for the country to make India a modern vibrant growing economy so that every Indian can participate fully in the process of economic development and can gain more from and contribute more to economic development. Another question is: If there be no minimum qualifications, experiences and expertise for the HRD Minister, then how could students be convinced to have minimum grades for admissions to schools and colleges; and how could we insist to have minimum qualifications, grades, expertize and experiences for teachers, professors, Principals and vice Chancellors? My basic question is: why cannot Modi select the best candidate for the HRD Minister from his Cabinet? Another question is: Is there no other better ministry for Smriti Irani? My third question: Is Modi's camp so poor as judged by educational qualifications and experiences they consider a non-graduate as the best HRD Minister for the third largest economy of the world?

As I undestand Smriti Irani is 12th Std or so. Though academic qualification has its own role
to play, wise-ness and vision play a crucial role. There are several examples in Indian
politics that show no relationship of academic qualifications and age with political
leadershi, e.g., some CMs and PMs were not even SSC passed. On the other hands, some leaders
with of good academic qualifications are found involved in corruption and generating black
money!

Let us wait and watch. We need change the wind, however.

But, Human Resource is expected to be dealt in a professional manner and not as per one's whim
and fancy.

If Educational qualification is not prescribed for HR manager post, then, the students of HRM
would feel depressed. But a country's HR Minister is expected to have atleast a good knowledge
of the matter, which is to be dealt by, is it wrong to opine!

Mr. Ajay Makan, ex-minister of sports, has expressed his view that Ms. smrithi Irani is not a
Graduate. Is it?

Of course, Smrithi Irani is the HR Minister now, and no change would take place now. If she
performs well for the country's up-lift in educational processes, then there cannot be any
grievance.

I agree with Prof Ramesh. Education unfolds knowledge. Training makes it structured and goal

Smriti Irani has established herself as a much acclaimed TV actress, without any formal
training in acting. So, what's wrong if such person heads HRD!

For citizens of an economy (best example is China) to be well educated, well fed, healthy and
live longer, we need formulation of effective policies for these sectors for the near, medium
and long term. There is lot of conviction in Dr Tarun Das"s views on Education & Health
sectors & very well acceptable.

But on the other hand - We had erudite Ministers, astute politicians, profound advisors,
intellectual policy makers remarkably assisted by ace bureaucrats, efficient officials to
implement & execute the policies & above all educated Indians shining in academic brilliance,
in large numbers.

But unfortunately, where did we go wrong in the last 67 years. There is a truth in what Dr V
Maruthi Rao is also stating.

Well, as for Smriti Irani, there is no point in comparing her with Shri PV N Rao, Shi MM
Joshi, or Mr Kapil Sibal. But, after hearing her yesterday , she has come out as a committed &
focussed person who is keen to discharge her duties & perform to her potential to carry out
the policies devised by the party & Govt. Her language, diction & delivery shows she has
studied beyond class 12. In any case, she will be ably assisted by other well qualified policy
makers, politicians, officials, bureaucrats. others.

So, putting the blame entirely on the Union Ministers & attributing their failure for India
lagging behind, in social sectors, Education & Health care, is not right. All stakeholders
have to do their bit. This has not happened & time for introspection - to examine that
aspect?.

It is too early to judge - let us wait for 6 months & take a call in November. HRD ministry is
pivotal for us & India & we need to keep a watch out, not lose out.

are evidenced for the education sector by Smriti Irani who spent most of her past time as TV
actress and a model. Can Professor V. Maruthi Rao provide an objective and more convincing
reply devoid of emotions and personal sentiments?

I totally disagree with Dr.Tarun Das. If the HRD minister has studied up to 12 the standard
only does not mean that education would not get due importance. Probably we may see a sea
change in the policies towards the education sector. True we had some highly knowledgable and
intellectually brilliant HR ministers but then the education sector barring some reforms has
not seen any dynamic changes.

to make India a country of lower class Babus.
