I had the opportunity of using the toilets three times, and the audio advert attachment is a true reflection. The Manyu Community Radio is pumping this advert out almost every 15 minutes. The first time I went to Mamfe I did not pay attention to the advert so I went past the street and went further down the road. I stopped to ask someone where I can have the toilets to pee. He pointed to some grassy steps which I followed and found myself in the market. I was scandalized and embarrassed by what I saw. I leave it to you to guess what I saw as public toilets.
The next time I went to Mamfe I followed the Radio announcement which took me to the right place where I saw a show piece. The only thing I found wanting was that there were no urine pots. People have to use the toilets to urinate. The attendants are polite and welcoming. After someone goes out they go in to tidy the place. They are equally aggressive to people who fail to use the toilets. I remember someone went past the toilets and was urinating on the grass. The girl shouted "de no de piss for de" and went after the man who took off and the girl gave up the chase.
The advantage of handing over the project to the Council is that they can have guards who can arrest people urinating outside and enforce a penalty, but would they be able to maintain the decency of the place?

I write to make a report of how the 14 days of the running of the MPRP has been, and to make an honest evaluation.The MPRP as you well know began on the 8th of July 2014. We had the hours of grace from 6 am to noontime. Then it continued strictly on cash and use basis. The phase of advertisements went on smoothly with radio adverts on Manyu Community Radio for a month (cf. adverts software). The National Telegraph carried it for July issue, the LMT TV station made it and news cast it three times. Two sign posts were made, the "Okada men" went round with flyers around the town, we have also put Postals on electric polls, and on strategic corners in Mamfe Town. Tickets have been printed but not yet in use.The staffing list had been good as we already intimated you that there are; Mr. Anya Michael is the Manager (he is on 30.000fcfa), Tabot Roseline Etemache – female cleaner (20.000), Raymund- male cleaner (20.000fcfa), Ajah Jaarpan Ajah-security and Electrician (20.000fcfa), and Ayuk Patrick Eyong Ewuh-plumer (5.000fcfa). You would notice that the amount previewed for the two cleaners were to be 15.000 fcfa each, but we discovered that the money could not make up for the month for them, their house rents and transport and feeding (since minimum wage is 28.514 fcfa). these have signed a three months contract with me and we have agreements in force now.We have agreed that they will put in 11 hours of work Monday to Saturday. (the issue of Sunday is still under review). Open the doors of MPRP at 4 am and close at 7 pm daily. They will have break only at the hours of 10 am to 11 am and 3 pm to 4 pm (one person at a time). They are to be present and work to make sure that the place is neat, welcome customers. They are to make sure that at least 150 persons use the restroom daily. If this is done, then we can break even with at least 15.000 fcfa to 20.000 fcfa a day.The monthly expenditures would then be 95.000 fcfa for workers, there is AES-SONEL, SNEC, repairs, and weekly accessories to be taken care of.
Below is the way the MPRP has ran for the past two weeks:
- More persons come for short calls more than any other facilities.
- More men benefit from the toilet facilities more than women.
- So far 686 persons have benefited from the services for only 14 days (two weeks).
- Sunday is less used than any other day.
- The most used days are Saturdays.
- The rate of use for now is 40 to 82 persons a day.
- We have an income of forty-four thousand, seven hundred and fifty (44.750).
- There are prospects that when we shall compare this 14 days and the other ones, we shall be increase.
