Re: [MTC Global] Goals & Objectives

Dear Sir, There is very little difference between a goal and an objective. Goals
are quantifiable. The SMART acronym applies to goals. Objectives can sometimes be
non quantifiable. For example a goal would be to reduce 5kgs by one month. On the
other hand an objective could be look trim and fit. Now one can define trim and
fit in terms of a a person or an image in mind.
Another example could be a goal of hosting parties and inviting people for dinner.
The goal can be achieved in terms of who to call, when to call what to serve and
how much to spend, etc. The objective of these parties could be to enjoy ones time
with others and have a good time to break the boredom.
Goals and objectives are defined in terms that are external and can be
communicated to others in a team.
I guess the important part is not so much in the definitions but whether we can
make them work for us.
Best Regards,

Subject: [MTC Global] Goals & ObjectivesDear ColleaguesFood for thought. What is
the universally acceptable difference between a Goal & an Objective?
Although Management, in its various facets, forms & fundas, has a history of over
2 centuries ,
some confusion still prevails on Goals & Objectives for a Manager.
Goals have a time frame & Objectives are aligned in the fulfilment of Goals.
Losing 5 kgs in next 1 month is a goal - task & time frame. Objectives are series
of things one does to lose weight, like diet, walking, yoga, attitude, etc. Some
more clarity is needed as many Managers use Goals & Objectives, interchangeably

Few Management teachers & educators also get confused here.Members can opine, with
less of theory & more examples. regardsRamesh Vemuganti--
