This idea will improve the students' employability manifold:

"We need to go for abolishing these compartments, let the teachers  build teams so as drive home to students real-life is nothing but interdisciplinary. Specialization, a sub-problem, is a process of simplification to realize the larger system."

But who will bell the cat?

Best wishes.

In fact, interdisciplinary characteristics is the core of almost all so called UG/ PG prgs. Where are we lacking is the proper fusion of courses in a systemic way. A mathematical teacher teaching say vectors does not know normally its applications in engineering, an MBA teacher teaching marketing is normally weak in technological forecasting, etc. We need to go for abolishing these compartments, let the teachers  build teams so as drive home to students real-life is nothing but interdisciplinary. Specialization, a sub-problem, is a process of simplification to realize the larger system.

No doubt each organ is destined to perform its own task, e.g., eyes cannot hear nor walk! But as a  part of human body system only strong eyes would not save one to run away on seeing a cobra as the legs are disabled. Specialization is thus necessary but has to work in alignment with other specializations, if the system is expected to perform as desired.

There is one more thing because of our artificial way of living,  we have lost the capability for auto-bio-feedback thereby maintaining the system in tact. Animals and plants for instance have such a capability. We need to be more eco-friendly.

Do you support interdisciplinary offering in classes like where marketing, strategy and OM faculty come together to teach a course is the way forward because in real life situations most issues have multiple dimensions. If effective, the challenge is how many B-schools can afford it as there would be pressure on the cost.

I have seen in a limited way the approach for the course lie Research Method where in functional faculty along with faculty with expertise in statistics teach together. Also SPSS/PROWESS/MINITAB  resource person are also engaged.
