Universities are unable to regulate the standards of attainment for the same
degree from different colleges. The colleges are unable to control the quality of
the student intake as well as follow stricter norms. When the students pass out
from such colleges, the market becomes the arbiter of the quality. Students opting
for cheap degrees or from lesser known institutions end paying for little or
nothing. The teachers working in such colleges suffer humiliation, and the pains
of losing their jobs for not following the management line. The result: falling
applications for the Business degree.

members knowing the intricacies and repurcations or after effects end up giving
more internal marks for fear of losing their jobs. Its not only because of the
fear and pressure from the top management, because of fear of losing their job.

You have indeed started with a very pragmatic discussion.
I am in teaching in business management institutes for last 14 years in India and
abroad and in except few cases, I have gone through such experiences where the
students are treated as customers and we, the faculties are customer service
people. Many institutes make tall talks, but in reality nothing such happens. The
very basic principle of giving high percentages or CGPA is a unwritten norm across
the sector as failing the students or giving them the poor marks are considered as
the detrimental to admissions. I have seen such instances, where under the
intervention of top management, faculties are forced to give upto 10 marks grace
on a single paper to make a student successful. Students with only 35%-40%
attendance are allowed to appear in the examination and their internal markings
are also done at per with regular students. Even, though the students have not
submitted any assignments or appeared in any single presentation, the student is
given good marks in internal or continuous evaluation. So, you can understand, how
poor the situation is?
