Skills Required and Job Description:

MOI: - Telephonic + Skype Description Provides application software development services or technical support typically in a defined project. Develops program logic for new applications or analyzes and modifies logic in existing applications. Codes, tests, debugs, documents, implements and maintains software applications. Analyzes requirements, and maintains, tests and integrates application components. Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented. Usually requires 5-10 years of previous experience.  Monsanto is seeking a highly motivated individual who is excited about applying software application development skills to support a world class biotechnology pipeline.  This position will be embedded among research and development (R&D) scientists and provides the unique opportunity to work hand in hand to create innovative IT tools to provide critical functionality and prototype features to aid in the design process for the enterprise software development group. The Software Engineer will coordinate with a group of software developers within the Trait Field Solutions (TFS) Team to develop and maintain applications.  The candidate will work as part of a team of developers working with various technologies including ASP.NET, Windows Forms/WPF, HTML5/jquery, Oracle database, and Microsoft SQL Server.  Responsibilities include: Collaborate with a wide variety of professionals in the TFS organization to design and implement software tools and systems that are critical to delivering the biotechnology trait pipeline. Integrate with a team of developers to deliver high quality software solutions quickly and effectively. Conduct regular code reviews to ensure product quality. Collaborate with a wide variety of professionals in the broader IT organizations that design and maintain enterprise databases and user interfaces in order to maximize the overall IT benefit to the TFS organization. Be very familiar with database schemas both within TFS as well as enterprise systems and be able to query these databases using complex SQL queries. Be willing to assist with technologies that are used by scientists such as Spotfire and the R statistical program. Required Skills: BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent software development experience Demonstrated expertise with Visual Studio, C#, SQL Server with a minimum of 3 years of experience Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to understand complex problems and create simple and efficient solutions. Experience creating and optimizing SQL queries of complex relational databases. Experience with object-oriented methodologies. The demonstrated ability to learn and acquire new technologies as needed. The demonstrated ability to work independently. Desired Skills: Agricultural research knowledge. Experience in software development utilizing Microsoft .NET.
