Norbert Zongo (July 1949 – December 13, 1998) was the publisher and editor of the Burkina Faso newspaper l'Indépendant. He was assassinated after his newspaper began investigating the murder of a driver who had worked for the brother of President Blaise Compaoré.

Soter Tarh Agbaw-Ebai I had actually shared a conversation with him just three days before he was killed. My friend in Paris Jean Francios Juillard of Reporters Sans Frontiere told me in 1998 that Zongo was killed by the direct younger brother of Blaise Compaore!!
