To bring in transparency in the research work (research chair) carried out in universities, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has come out with some directions in this concern.
The Research work does not involve passing of exams or has syllabus. But, it involves study and research on a person or subject.
The Central and State government gives funds to the State Universities for research work. However, the universities do not have any rules or directions wherein these research works could come in use. These research activities and its information does not reach the society by the research centres.
It is expected from the Research centre that their research benefits the society at large. If the research done is on a National icons or social worker, the information on the same should reach the society. But, from quite few years the research activity is not reaching the society.
University and Research Institutes to give annual report
Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur university,( RTMNU) has Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Rabindranath Tagore thoughts research centre(CHAIR) . These research institutes receive independent research funds. However, the UGC committee has found that the research work is not bearing the fruit as it should be. As a result the committee has directed for annual reports on research, reported Nagpur Today
