I agree intoto with this submission. Which Cameroonian does not know that when "we go Die House, man must shake skin and massa charge yi pocket to helep the family?".It is part of our culture (Insurance or no Insurance). We Cry, We Dance, We Eat...yes we Drink well well too and even do "bad thing" the same nite of the cry-die (some say to replace our departed comrade). BUT this idea of "Begging 4 Mimbo" online is completely "Alien" to us and just like you, I find it equally repulsive.
How do you announce a very "Hot Die" and the next sentence is "Drink Drive". Na wetin be dis? What are we becoming? I remember a few years back, a friend died and the funeral was in Columbia, MD. This guy dutifully came in with his "12 Pack" Heineken. His friend stopped him: "Wusai you dey go with dat ting? You see this Die like na Die for 12 Pack peepoo? I beg go keep dat nonsense 4 ya mutu, then kam back kam Enjoy the Die. Dis one na Money Man Die. Ne be Bep Bep. Waka dey come with smol 12 bottro. U see some man dey drink beer here? Dis one na Die for Hennessey, Champagne, Whisky Black, Courvoisier and better Italian, French and original Greek wines. Chop sef na Spanish ngonderes dem dey Service. Wuna kam see me see trobu with Heineken. Moof me dey.
Na Columbia dis, no be Langley Park.

May the soul of Ms Dorothy Eboa Mediki RIP.
There's something deeply callous and unsettling about the message announcing the death of our sister that grates with me. In advising the public of the death of Mr Mediki's sister, the bulk of the message is dedicated to a "drink drive" campaign, however that is executed. While the title of the initiative itself seems like a loaded controversy the announcement seems fundamentally driven by a misplaced priority. If the intention is to help "reduce the burden on the family," telling people to bring a collection of drinks to the wake does not seem like the best possible manner in which the public could pay their respects to the deceased. There must be a way that people could be asked to help while being respectful to the deceased and mindful of the grief of the family. Too often, people have appeared insouciant to the plight of the the dead, the family and the grief-stricken well-wishers.
