Sharing the vehicles and modifying your schedules have been found to be a very effective solution to lightening the traffic congestion world over and it also answers Dr. Jayasri's answer. Yes, you have 'n' number of ways to outwit the law if you are not a conscious citizen.

If I am right, are we supposed to possess minimum 2 vehicles so that the new arrangement of Nepal shall not affect our day-to-day travelling. But, it says the private vehicles to number with odd or even numbers alternatively, how is possible to travel for the daily courses of employment and education etc. Please help to understand the idea.

There is a thing they have done...converted one of the roads..as one way partially....means you can go in..but not comeout of it...
We could try the following:
Separate lanes for especially for cycle and rickshaw walas...
Close some of roads for only one way traffic.
Build multistory parking lots 500mts away from city centers..but not more than that.
Not allow cars and four wheelers...except those small one tonners delivery goods to shops near the city center..
Some markets are free of cars in meerut..but I think where the lanes are narrow and too much crowd..all forms..of 2 ..3 and 4 four wheelers sshud be banned..except for elderly...and physically handicapped.

Basically there is total disregard for traffic regulations, by motorists as well as pedestrians. Who respects " zebra crossings"? There is only the rule of "might is right". If there are many pedestrians they cross with impunity.....on the other hand if the motorists are approaching at a high speed they acquire the right of way! The only route is very stiff monetary penalties along with"re-education. The long term plan is educate at kindergarten level.

Bangalore tops the list , so many other Indian Cities facing the heat. Many initiatives are taken [subway , fly-over, one way, Office Cab, extension of road, more buses , awareness program etc] but still it is not enough. Let us address the problem from management perspective.

Grappling with massive traffic chaos, Nepal has introduced a unique way to tackle the issue ahead of the SAARC summit by restricting plying of private vehicles bearing odd registration numbers today and barring those with even numbers tomorrow.
The schools and other government institutions will remain close on Wednesday and Thursday -- the two days when 18th SAARC summit will take place in the capital where Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders of the member countries of the regional grouping will participate.
"Vehicles having odd registration number are not allowed to ply today while vehicles having even numbers will not be allowed to run tomorrow," a Nepal government official said.
