RE: [MTC Global] [Weekend Discussion] What kind of people should be recruited to teach?

Both Goel Sahab and Rameshji are quite correct!

Passion in any profession is a latent prerequisite for success for that professional, including teacher. Such people have a sense of belonging to that work with an eye for details. They have high self motivation and responsibility, and derive a great sense of satisfaction in producing the outcome for the recipients. It is evident in an active sense, perhaps 24 x 7.

Ramshji has elegantly listed the virtues and skills in details with great thought!

kind regards,

P.S.Raychaudhuri

A simple qualification is to judge whether the candidate is passionate about teaching and HE/SHE walks, talks and thinks like a teacher.

Of all the discussions we are havingon a plethora of topics,

What kind of people should be recruited to teach?

assumes utmost importance.

Though I am little tied up today, I am tempted to respond.

Recruit a teacher who is " interested in teaching, eternal learner, always curious, posseses quantitative skills especially for Management education, who loves students, innovative in teaching styles, technology oriented, market savvy, voracious reader - around 100 pages a day, who values & teaches integrity, develops an approach, is well connected with industry managers, wonderful receipient of T, K & I from others, constantly updates with industry practices,
less Commercial & more of a Giver --
&
TAKES PRIDE IN TEACHING.

India needs such teachers - from Schools to PG.

A focus on qualifications, though bound to exercise many, fails to address more fundamental concerns about what kind of people should be recruited to teach, both formally and informally.
