Re: [Shesa USA] King Akwa: Letter to Queen Victoria Aug 7, 1879

The perennially telescopic, if not manipulated and manipulative, Kenneth John Begheni Ndeh,
What has the interaction of the coastal folks got to do with the fact that in 1858, the legitimate authority of the lands heretofore known as Ambas-Zone had ceded the said lands to the British crown, an act which justified the creation of the State of Southern Cameroons?
What has coastal interaction gotta do with the fact that on March 4, 1916, the Cameroun republic was created as a modern state as per International law.
You may also wish to educate yourself on the following still cut from the manuscript of "An Annotated History of the Cameroons" by one Ntemfac Ofege - Prophet.

1858, June 9:

Alfred Saker purchase land from the King of Bimbia and name it ‘Victoria’ in honour of Queen Victoria, the then reigning British monarch. The land, at the foot of the Fako Mountain off Ambas Bay, was about 16km long and 8km for which he paid 2.000 pounds sterling worth of goods.

1858, August 23:

Alfred Saker signed a treaty with King William of Bimbia who claimed to have unstrictured power over the land.

The treaty read:

‘….I, William, Chief and the known King of Isubu, and sole and lawful owner of a district contiguous to ISUBU and known as ‘War Bay’ and ‘Ambas Bay’ and Islands belonging thereto, declare, and by this act to make known, that I this day makeover and give unto Alfred Saker…all my rights and title to the sovereignty and possession of the district therein specified…a coastline beginning at War Bay…

Continuing and embracing FO’O Bay and thence onward to the highlands of Bobia. Second, the interior line of this district shall be from the stream in War bay onward N.E….to join another line N.E. from the highlands beyond Bobia (Bimbia). Third, this district together with all that appertains thereto…I do this day make over and give unto Alfred Saker…and assigns FOREVER for the consideration herewith annexed. And I do hereby acknowledge to have received this day a note of hand and demand for payment of the consideration…’[1]

King William of Bimbia thus became ‘a very good friend as well as of the Mission.’

Bimbia was thus not part of German Kamerun because it had been ceded to the British Crown since 1858.

We your servants have join together and thoughts its better to write you
a nice loving letter which will tell you about all our wishes.  We wish to
have your laws in our towns.  We want to have every fashioned altered,

our country.  Plenty murder and idol worshippers Perhaps these lines
of our writing will look to you as an idle tale.

The British Government procrastinated until 1882, when it finally
instructed Consul Edward Hyde Hewett to make a lengthy stay on
the coast, visit the Cameroons River, and report on the kings, the
people, and the trade of the territory so that the government could
give the question of annexation full consideration.
