ROLE DESCRIPTION:
This resource will act as a senior developer for the Cognos Business Intelligence (BI) workstream of the BI roadmap project. The resource will be involved with the technical design, development and system testing of critical Cognos BI deliverables.
We are looking for someone with 10.2 experience and someone with both very strong technical and very strong communication skills.
The resource must have worked extensively with Workspace dashboards, Cognos mobile, Framework manager, Transformer, WSA and report studio.
NECESSARY SKILLSETS::
- At least 7+ years of relevant experience
- Experience with Cognos version 10.2 or higher
- Experience designing and developing Workspace dashboards
- Excellent communication skills
- Reports Studio experience and Transformer experience
- Understanding of data warehousing, data structures and data modeling
- Good analytical and problem solving skills
- Experience at a financial institution is a big plus
- Ability to work effectively with users and IT management and staff
ADDITIONAL NOTES
· Group works with financial systems, managing BI and responsible for financial reporting and data analytics. Also uses MS BI and .NET.
· This position is open because current contractor has reached his tenure (18 months). Top 3 strengths of this candidate: 1. Technically strong in Cognos. 2. Good communication skills (manager said he always felt comfortable sending this person out to work with business users). 3. Always took ownership of his work.
· Will be working closely with this team's BA and business users to roll out BI solutions.
· They do very sophisticated things with Cognos – they have a Cognos mobile app.
· Long term roadmap project. Has been ongoing for a while and will continue to be ongoing for another couple of years. Will be responsible for technical design with architect, development, testing, deployment, user training (if necessary). Will also be involved in version upgrade of Cognos next year. Will be upgrading from Cognos 10.2 to 10.2.2 – will take about 10 months. Previous upgrade experience would be helpful.
· Definitely IT focused position – need someone who is technically strong in Cognos, but also someone who has good communication skills to interact with business users.
· Ideally has experience with Cognos cubes, WS and WSA. At least 5, 6, 7 years of Cognos experience.
· Interview process: will go through 2 rounds of interviews
· Manager wants to bring someone on ASAP. Will most likely be extended as long as resource is a good fit.
· Will definitely be looking for someone who has experience working in a large, enterprise environment.
