POSITION: Project Manager With PMP Certification

LOCATION: St. Louis, MO

DURATION: 6 month contract

 

In-Person Interview Required preferred locals and who are fine with In-person

 

Description:

The primary purpose of this position is to manage release teams through the successful execution of client's Project Management process and Agile standards in support of business initiatives.  Through the building and maintaining of working relationships with team members, vendors, and other departments involved in releases, this position facilitates client's processes,  leads and directs the work of others, and requires a wide degree of creativity and latitude to accomplish assigned tasks. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Manage one or more release teams that usually consist of 8 to 10 associates by maximizing productivity (velocity) with typical release durations of 1 to 3 months and effort estimates that range up to 3000 hours per release. Oversee all aspects of releases including but not limited to setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, monitoring and summarizing progress; utilizingAgile/SCRUM (preferred) , Waterfall,  and/or Iterative methodologies to ensure the successful delivery of releases as directed by the line of business roadmap. (50%)

Plan, manage and coordinate releases in timeboxes using SCRUM/Agile methodologies. Complete timely and consistent release reporting such as: release status; new or outstanding issues, risks, actions and decisions; upcoming or late tasks and deliverables.  Produce metrics such as team velocity and burndown charts to track and report status and progress. (20%)

Establish, build, and maintain working relationships with the business relationship manager, initiative stakeholders, release team members, vendors and other departments as necessary to encourage team work and enable effective collaboration. (15%)

Provide recommendations for process improvements of existing or new processes and serve on departmental sub-committees as assigned. (10%)

Perform other duties as assigned. (5%)

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Demonstrated knowledge of Agile practices including but not limited to iteration planning, use case development, daily scrums, code refactoring, retrospectives and burndown tracking.

Excellent people management and leadership skills to effectively lead large complex releases.  Release teams typically include 8-10 associates representing multiple functional areas in a matrixed environment.

Ability to lead multiple releases, each with a Rough Order of Magnitude up to 3,000 hours, representing multiple functional areas and up to one external vendor or third party, in a matrixed environment.

 

Ability to provide conflict management, display sensitivity to others and use individual influence to address team performance issues.

Ability to motivate and nurture a culture of excellence within the individual release teams.

Ability to adapt to new processes and willingness to take measured risks.

Ability to facilitate and lead teams through effective problem solving techniques to address daily issues that must be resolved quickly.

Ability to lead complex releases consisting of interdependent projects that must be coordinated such that they do not conflict with each other but can be successfully integrated into a coherent working software system with appropriate testing and documentation.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal and facilitation skills, negotiation skills and ability to deliver reports and presentations to senior management.

Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook and Visio.

Foster company success through a professional appearance, being courteous to customers and all client's associates and by having a positive attitude.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

4+ years experience utilizing release/project management practices and methodologies required.

2+ years of experience managing or leading teams, each involving 8 or more team members and approximately 1,000 resource hours per calendar quarter required.

Experience leading Agile/Scrum teams highly preferred.

Financial Services systems and online technology experience preferred.

Agile Scrum Master Certification or PMI Agile Certified Practioner preferred.
