Position:.

 

·          Someone who is excited about pushing the limits of MySQL.

·          The MySQL DBA is responsible for the optimization, performance, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing operation of clients databases. This role also includes the architecture and implementation of databases and tables for new features, monitoring, capacity planning, and security

 

Responsibilities

·          Provide technical expertise to design the most efficient and cost effective solutions for MySQL

·          Server–based database systems.

·          Provide DBA support for databases in various environments including development, QA, performance, pre­ production; provide DBA support for vendor and internally developed applications.

·          Optimize and tune MySQL and InnoDB performance to keep our site fast!

·          Quickly diagnose server problems and employ preventive measures to maintain high availability servers.

·          Install, configure, and maintain MySQL instances in production

·          Configure and support replication

·          Continually improve monitoring, perform database capacity and usage planning

·          Manage backup and restore, maintaining runbooks & planning for disaster recovery

·          Assist developers with query tuning and schema design

·          Write and maintain scripts to automate tasks

Requirements

·          Solid understanding of MySQL Server and InnoDB storage engine

·          Familiarity with MySQL replication, configuration, and strategies

·          Demonstrated experience with relational database performance tuning and capacity planning (preferably with MySQL)

·          Strong systems administration and automation skills

·          Strong command of your favorite scripting and/or programming language

·          Excellent communication skills

Pluses

·          Knowledge and enthusiasm around all things Percona Server

·          InnoDB internals/debugging/tuning experience, and hankering to do more

·          Experience at a large­scale consumer internet site

·          Experience with distributed database systems

·          Passion for experiments, trying new things, and developing tools

·          Experience with other RDBMS software, Hbase, and other No­SQL environments

·                     

·          - Must have good communication and be able to clearly communicate with other staff and engineers

·          -Good attitude

Must Haves:

·          - My SQL

·          - Be a Sr. Advanced DBA

·          - Understand Architecture and Design of Applications from DB perspecitve

·          - Deep ability for troubleshooting queries

·          -Performance Tuning

·          -Capacity Planning

·          - Ability to recognize performance impacting logs and strong SQL queries

·          - Performance Metric Tools: Monyog, Data Dog, and New Relic
