Re: [MTC Global] Eligibility Confusion--UG College & PG Department

THE UGC HAS ISSUED A CIRCULAR WITRH REGARD TO THE RETIREMENT AGE OF THE FACULTY MEMBERS AS 65 YEARS.(WHICH IS AVAILABLKE IN THE UGC WEBSITE)  BUT THE AFFILIATED COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITY FACULTY MEMBERS RETIRE ON THE COMPLETION OF THE AGE OF 60 ONLY. FEW AFFILIATED COLLEGES IN TAMIL NADU, WHAT I AM AWARE, RETIRE THE FACULTY MEMBERS ON THE COMPLETION OF 58 YEARS.

NO CLAIM FROM ANY BODY AND PRIVATE/AFFILIATED COLLEGES INDUCT THE FACULTY MEMBERS WHO ARE RETIRED AT 60 YEARS OF AGE  AS CONSULTANT/ADHOC/VISITING/ADJUNCT FACULTY.

WHAT'S THE RIGHT MESSAGE FOR IMPLEMENTATION ON THE RETIREMENT AGE, IS NOT THE MATTER TO ANYONE.

IN ONE WAY THERE IS HUGE HUE AND CRY THAT QUALIFIED FACULTY MEMBERS ARE IN SCARCITY, BUT IN ANOTHER WAY, THE QUALIFIED AND EXPERIENCED FACULTY ARE IGNORED.

LIKE ADVOCATES AND DOCTORS, THE COLLEGE AND SCHOOL TEACHERS ARE TO BE NOT ON RETIREMENT AGE.

REQUEST THE OPINION/S OF THE OTHER MEMBERS, PLEASE.

REGARDS,

Dear All,

Private affiliated colleges Asst. Prof / Assoc. Prof. / Prof. need to be selected and ratified by the respective affiliated univerisities every time when  ever they change the colleges.

It is mandate by the University that MBA (First class) is minimum degree, to be selected as Lecturer / Asst. Prof.

The ironic fact is that if a university prof. retires after 58/60 years and having qualifications like MA. PhD / M.Sc. Ph.D / M.Com, Ph.D etc., still can join with any private college with the same cadre without any sort of selection / ratification by the affiliating university.  Rules are only for Private Professors.

UGC says with 55% in PG one can join as Lecturer, where as AICTE says 60% in PG only.  This both rules given by two statutory bodies are comfortable meddled by  university authorities as per their convenience.

Ratification as Professor of a private college person is next to impossible even he/she is having all the req. qualifications & experience.

If u discuss on these point there are many. It is rightly said by VC, BHU that colleges / universities to be freed from all the statutorities / government.

I thought for management courses MBA shall be mandotory I do support AICTE for this, even CA CMA & CS. If we analyse the syllabi MBA syllabus is far better than M.Com. In our University M.Com people are studying 8 subjects in two year whereas At MBA 8 subjects per Semester.....
Also MBA's are not eligible for M.Com. Course as per UGC....
Somewhere parity should be there regarding courses & faculty norms.

Dear Prof. Dutta and all Learned Colleagues,

After hearing all contributors of this discussion, let me ask you few questions?

If MBA, Ph.D with experience is the requirement for teaching in management, do we have enough number of teachers?

If Industry experience is a must for teaching, There will be only 10% of Teachers available.

Teachers are highly qualified, but least paid job. Do you think one who is successful in industry will come for teaching?

My opinion, those who are fed-up with the industry will come for teaching, they will not be successful in teaching also. (Of-course, not all)

M. Com, MBA, M. A., M. Sc. C.A, .I feel all are required for teaching in MBA, An MBA student must get the experience and knowledge of a Mathematician, Statistician, Economist, Management Specialist, Accountant, Finance, and even English Literature. Please do check the qualifications of IIM Professors.

Those who reached the other end of the river, may say that now only those who learned swimming must come this side.

Look at the Indian higher education, Any schools, colleges, Institutes or Universities do not have 100% teaching staff members.

Where is the problem? Don't we have enough qualified people? Qualified people are not coming to teaching field because of less salary?

Are the Institutes, Universities and Government ready to pay decent salary to teachers?

All these are my personal opinion based on my 24 years of teaching and 1.5 years of industry experience, there is no offense to anyone's view.

Kind Regards

In the re-affiliation and fresh affiliation inspection, LIC, of one of the Universities in South India put two observations respectively...

1. PG: To become a director of MBA Department one must have MBA and Ph.D. and not M.Com and Ph.D.

2. UG College: Starting two programs B.Com and BCA-- Person must have either B.Com /BCA/B.Sc in UG and then may have MBA or Ph.D. to become eligible. Person having BA, MBA, Ph.D. not eligible. But if the UG College starts with B.Com, BA, BCA and MBA then the same person can become eligible.
