It is good for a state or a nation, to aspire to be the best. From the ancient times , the best state and nation where not the one's who have military  might to conquer the world , but the one's who have also capabilities to maintain the conquered territory such  a way , that the subject become happy , and the leader of nation, considered as the welfare of its subjects as highest priority , not conquering of others territories . The leader who conquered other territories to become No 1 without the interest of making his subjects happy , will infuriate his subjects , and would be considered as "Blood thirsty". Such ambitious leaders who mindlessly pursues the objective of No 1 , often are put down by his own people , as they find them dictatorial and autocratic.

In the age of "Soft power" a leader who connects the nation, with the World, is seen in higher esteems then the one who tries to conquer and block others.

But, this has taken a perverted shape later compounded by our petty self-gains. The Indian History is full of such examples. Invaders after invaders came to this country, betrayals help them,  conquered us, looted us, ruled us. This is because of such reasons as we preached pseudo-peace, were after self-gains betraying our people/nation. To be strong is a prerequisite to remain free, away from shackles. In other words, we failed to make our defence strong. No one dares to be naughty with a strong person that is applicable to nation also. Even after independence we could hardly realize this vital natural law. No wild animal dares to attack/tease  a lion.

To be strong in defence calls for both knowledge and wisdom. Israel and Us are the best examples. Those having only knowledge but lacking wisdom invite destruction and vise-a-verse.
