....teaching is an art.... every art will have its style....similarly, teaching has got its own style....form and content will together constitute style....form or presentation skills without content/knowledge and vice versa has got no meaning...
.... while form or presentation skills come out of experience and/or practice, the content will come more out of academic qualifications and/or excellence/achievement......
....dear waghodekar sir, though I have 4 doctoral degrees, 4 post graduate degrees and 2-3 other degrees, etc..(.I am a gold medalist with ugc jrf/net.).......yet I endorse a strong correlation between academic achievements such jrf/net, securing university first/gold medal.....I have keenly observed several people with such kind of academic excellence .....certainly, there is some uniqueness in their knowledge and presentation skills....and it will be improved in geometric manner....
....pity of the present recruitment system is it is based mainly on extraneous factors such as influence, caste, region and of course bribing, many people including myself could not get any teaching opportunity in any university.....of course, now I am in 50s' and settled in a good psu with good salary....the only thing is, I could not get my choice of profession, that is, teaching....

Recruitment of faculty is a key to quality education. - Management/University

UGC NET Examination can not be the valid scale of testing the eligibility of a candidate for lectureship.
A lecturer or teacher must be re-search oriented person and should possess research experience and has capacity to deliver lecture(knowledge, ideas,opinion,cases,situations, data, facts,figures and morale ethics) so that an understanding response may took place.
I have taken interview of several NET qualified candidate for lecturer of management subjects and I am sorry to say that they were not upto mark for lectureship. Same was the condition of Phd qualified candidate from private university.
However to some extent eligible for JRF.
I do agree with the present quality of Phd but it is mostly due to mushrooming like so called Private and Deemed university in India and world which believes in quantity rather than quality. Such university are merely a money making factory.
To improve quality of education and research a common ordinance is required for all the universities. There must be on common syllabus for all the courses throughout India.
But still in my opinion Phd qualified and research oriented candidate is only suitable for Lecturer or professor. NET is completely invalid test. It is better to take Masters with MEd candidate for lecturer rather than NET qualified. It is valid only for testing Science group but that too for JRF not for lectureship.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) National Eligibility Test (NET) rank holders have urged universities and colleges to end the practice of appointing PhD holders without NET qualification as teachers alleging large-scale irregularities in the award of doctorates.
The UGC has prescribed NET as the qualification for teacher appointments. However, PhD holders are exempted from it. "The state Higher Education Department had issued an order exempting researchers without proper coursework from NET qualification. This is a blatant violation of UGC regulations on teachers' appointments," said P Sreejith of UGC Qualified Group - an association of UGC NET rank holders.
The UGC Qualified Group has written to the Governor urging him to revoke the government order which stated that all candidates who obtained PhD on or before 10-7-2009 and who have registered before this period for PhD can be exempted from NET qualification. "We are basically opposed to the way in which weightage is given to PhD holders for publication of research papers in reputed journals.
Usually such papers are ghost written by research guides. Therefore, giving weightage for such a malpractice cannot be justified," he said.
"Giving weightage to PhD holders for published research material puts NET qualified candidates at a disadvantage. Besides, more and more people are misusing PhD as a way to get relaxation from NET qualification," the UGC Qualified Group alleged, reportedNew Indian Express.
