RE: [MTC Global] UGC NET holders ask varsities to end practice to appoint non NET PhD holders

I feel that even after certification there should be a provision for a refresher course and/or renewal of certification after participation in certain number of approved workshops and seminars.

For starting/continuing as a teacher it should be compulsory to spend fulltime at least 3 months (to be repeated after every 3 years) in practicing the management in industry/business of one's choice .

Teaching is very different profession/occupation that deals only with minds
of teachers and taught. In other professions, it is mostly the relationships
of living and non-living entities.

Naturally, teachers'recruitment must be taken seriously. The starting point
is the candidate must be a certified teacher (by a national Public/NGO body)
along with suitable academic qualifications at any entry point: AP, AsP or
Professor or Principal. No relaxation be given.

Within 5 years education-outcomes will be as desired by stakeholders.

In continuation to my earlier contribution to this discussion, the

following points are worth pondering over.

It is again, the answers to the questions posed by the members are in

the questions themselves. If UGC NET is just a reflection of basic

domain knowledge which even a young pass out can also crack, why can't

the so called senior managers from industry crack it? Why are they

weary of appearing in UGC NET? It is not to demean the experience of

managers in industry, but to enter into academics one need to get the

basic eligibility i.e. UGC NET.

Moreover, we don't deny that management is essentially application of

knowledge. However, one must possess basic domain knowledge at a bench

mark level to apply it in real life situation. Otherwise, application

of half-backed knowledge can be disastrous.

The optimum combination of faculty for any management institution must

include people with industry experience with a zest for teaching. If

there is a real interest towards academics, people from industry

should be able to crack UGC NET with their experience. UGC NET is the

basic license to enter academics and one has to prove his/her driving

skills to obtain that license. As one further climbs up the ladder in

academics, he/she can take up further research, consultancy, MDPs and

any other opportunities.
