Re: [MTC Global] [Weekend Debate] Commercialization of Research

Dear All,

It is a welcome sign that corporate houses are willing to funding research
projects to be carried out in academic institutes. In fact, every one
concerned including government, corporate houses, religious trusts, public,
etc., need to support research activities in institutes.

Getting funding does not necessarily mean benefit to one organization or
their group only, but the advantages directly or indirectly affect at least
some vital sectors of public life.

We consider institute-industry and teaching-research as separate entities,
not related with each other, work in isolation, and the outcomes are
obvious.

Please see the attachment, one of my articles published related with
research.

In fact, institute's first house should be industry and in case of industry
the first house be institute!

Corporate funding for research in educational institutions is a welcome
move. But some people contradict that corporate funding for research only
benefits the companies and not having much impact on education itself.
In recent times, a hot debate broke out in Germany on Corporate Funding to
over 1000 projects.
