Awareness - The role of the Environment.

Dear Readers,

This, to inform you that a recent article from the Cardiac Department at the University of Edinburgh ( Scotland) has included air pollution as a risk factor for Stroke.

Fako Heart cannot verify these findings. However, this article is from the third most reputable University in the UK.

One must take this type  of information very seriously.

Below are some examples suggestive of how the environment could impact on our lives.

A)  According to colleagues back home, percentage wise, more people are dying from stroke in Douala than in Buea . Therefore , pollution could be a contributing factor.

B)  Limbe has the highest rate of cancer -related deaths in the entire SW region. In my view , this could be  due to the environment (  POLLUTION FROM SONARA ).

C) Cancer of the Stomach and Intestine could be  more frequent in Cameroonians resident in Western countries for more than 20years compared to our co-nationals back home.

D) Cancer of the Liver is more  frequent in Africans resident in Africa  than those resident here.

Points C & D are also due to dietary habits . Culprits include  poisonous mushrooms and undiagnosed viral diseases affecting the liver - Hepatitis.

With Best Wishes.
