The National Institute of Technology-Tiruchirapalli (NIT-T) is exploring all possibilities of entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a few German universities for mutual exchange of students and faculty members.
"Negotiations are on with a few technical universities. We are eager to collaborate with them as Germany possesses tremendous technical expertise in various areas. It will be beneficial to the students and faculty members of both the countries," said Director, Dr. S. Sundararajan after holding discussion with a team representing various academic intuitions of Germany.
Besides collaborating on technical studies, there were possibilities of starting a joint programme on Sanskrit and German languages as both had deep connection, he said.
Apoorv Mahendru, Director (Marketing), German Academic Exchange Service, said the team had preliminary discussion with the senior officials of the NIT-T, which was one of the leading technical and management institutes in India. Some of the German universities were open to collaborate with it on a few areas.
There was huge interest among Indian students to visit Germany for academic programmes. The number of Indian students in Germany had more than doubled in the past five years. India ranked third among the top countries of origin of international students enrolled in Master's degree programmes. It ranked second on the list of international students enrolled in Ph.D, reported Hindu.
