Re: [MTC Global] [Weekdays Big Debate-I] More colleges in the same campus

Since the last one decade, there is a growing tendency to accommodate a number of institutes run by a Trust/Management in the same campus, one location. And establishment of State Universities promotes this tendency. Such a campus goes with its own advantages and disadvantages like:

Advantages:
1. Better resource utilization.
2. Better economical viability.
3. Uniformity and standardization in administration, environment, provisions, etc.
4. More flexibility for manpower planning, levelling and allocation.
5. Assets creation, can be taken as national resources.
6. Generating employment, direct and indirect and also outsourcing like security, house keeping, catering, transport, etc.
7. Better exposure to students otherwise not so easily available in case of a single institute campus. Etc. etc.

Disadvantages:
1. Individual institute is controlled by a single Regulatory Body, like AICTE, BTE, University, etc, calling for different T & C of services, say, number of public holidays, leave rules, pay structure, inviting rubbing among institutes.
2. To maintain discipline is a big issue.
3. A small of group of self-vested students/faculty/staff may be a threat to the campus as it has been appearing in news recently.
4. Cash flow and financial management may be a tricky issue, some institute will survive on others.
5. Groupism in Hostels or other locations like canteen, mess, etc.
6. It may be difficult to enforce rules.
7. Smarts can exploit others, etc., etc.

Leave it to the Management and other controlling Officers whether to go for such a campus formation or not.

Do you think that such arrangement is good??
