Re: [MTC Global] [Weekdays Big Debate-II] Intake should not be more than 120

We have three types of production: mass, batch and job. When batch size is one it tends to be a job shop, whereas, if batch size is infinite, it turns to be mass/flow/continuous production. As one moves from job to mass productivity (e.g., rate of production)improves but flexibility decreases. This also affects the type of plant layout, e.g., functional layout for job and product layout for mass.

Diversification and market demand do affect the size of approved intake. In some cases I have come across such approved intakes: MCA: 180, Mechanical: 120, CSE: 120, ECE: 120, MBA: 120, Civil: 30/60, IT: 60. etc. Higher intake, I fear, may not raise an issue of equity in distribution of the seats for low profile colleges because of such reasons as vision of management, agility to grab the opportunity, understanding the market nerve, financial viability, etc.
