Description:
This is a senior position within the SE ADS-Analytical Data Service organization reporting to the Director and EDW and BI. The ADS group has responsibility for creating the EDW - Enterprise Data Warehouse to serve as a single version of truth for data analysis for Comcast business. The Principal Architect will play a lead role in these activities with a focus on successful and timely execution of the following responsibilities:
The incumbent will be the Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) master architect of scalable, well performing, cohesive, and integrated ETL processes for the data warehouse, intermediate data stores, and data marts for source data acquisition, data hygiene, staging, transformations, loading, error handling, updating, change control, integration, and data transmission to partner organizations.
End to End System Data Warehouse and ETL Architecture - Expert in data warehousing methodologies and best practices required.
Ability to design data solution components, including data analysis and design, stream ingestion, data transforms and integration, data quality checks, adhere/enforce Enterprise Data Warehouse Release management process, configuration management, automated testing, maintenance, troubleshooting and analytic support.
Design, plan, and develop solutions to perform automated extract, transform and load data between data sources when working with large data sets (TBs+ range)
Understand relational and non-relational database design principles, including normalization, de-normalization, and ability to read and interpret source and target systems.
Provide documentation of requirements in the form of architecture diagrams, data models, source to target mappings, data dictionaries and detailed design documents.
Maintain developed source code in the repository for all databases and keep all build programs up to date.
Diagnose and resolve performance issues.
Responsible for adherence to corporate standards, build process guidelines, maintainability, unit tests
Work with Operations group to design and implement maintenance routines, automated monitoring solutions, backup and disaster recovery strategy.
Lead developers and team on the "same page" regarding the rationale behind decisions impacting system architecture and design
Communicating with senior management & stakeholders who may be interested in the decisions
Performs a variety of tasks to design and deliver data warehousing solutions that exceed
Customer expectations in content, usability, accuracy, reliability and performance.
Excellent knowledge of and programming in relational data base technologies
Communicate and perform analysis with end to end data and production data flow activity
Work with Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 2.5 and Tier 3 support team for problem resolution and root cause.
Conduct Operations readiness and environment compatibility review of any changes prior to deployment.
Proactive recommendation for improving the performance and operability of the data warehouse and reporting environment.
Manage and Co-ordinate 1-5 team resources, Matrix resources and off-shore management
Must Have:
Advanced Degree in technical discipline or equivalent work experience. Strong preference for a minimum 5 years in day to day – Architecture for EDW using Linux, Informatica, Teradata, Pentaho and Oracle OBEII environments.
Requires understanding of complete Data Warehouse SDLC.
Experience with mange service and on-shore and off-shore development experience is must
End to End System Data Warehouse and ETL Architecture
Five to seven years leading data warehousing design and development as an ETL Lead, ETL Architect, Senior DW developer, DW consultant, or similar role required.
Development of End to End ETL architecture using Linux, Informatica, Pentaho, Teradata, OBIEE and Hadoop MAP-R, SQL and UC4
Experience facilitating user sessions and gathering requirements
Experience designing logical and physical architectures for data warehousing solutions
Experience managing teams of senior technologists
Experience working in an Agile development methodology in a data warehouse environment
Experience working in Telecommunications industry a plus
Ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries
Excellent oral, written, analytical, problem solving, and presentation skills
Manage and Co-ordinate 1-5 team resources, Matrix resources and off-shore management
Strong relational and dimensional data modeling skills required.
Strong data management and data analysis using SQL required.
