Project Description:
Teradata Database Administrator supporting Transition & Transformation organization installing, migrating, and supporting Teradata databases and ensuring their performance, availability, problem management resolution of issues and security compliance of systems for production readiness.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working with Teradata on Installing/Updating/Maintaining new/existing Teradata systems including DBS Control, XDBW, CTL, VProcManager, etc.
- Backup, restore, migrate Teradata data and objects using TARA with TSM, NetBackup, and MVS
- Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the system using Viewpoint and TASM
- Work with the team to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high availability and optimum performance.
- To proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime using Viewpoint monitoring and alerting
- Responsible for providing trend analysis to the service management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management using Viewpoint and PDCR.
- Responsible for problem escalation to Teradata Support team and third parties as appropriate.
- Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades.
- Responsible for implementation and release of database changes as submitted by the development team.
Skills Required:
- Proven Teradata Database Administration experience.
- Experience of working in a team that delivers a high availability service.
- Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service using Viewpoint, PDCR, and DBQL data
- Practical experience in managing the internal and external Teradata database security.
- High degree of efficiency installing and configuring Teradata systems with Teradata
- Expertise in backup, Restore, Migrate Teradata data and objects using TARA
- Expert knowledge of the Teradata Viewpoint/PDCR/TASM and it's relevance to database performance.
- Expertise with installing, maintaining, using all the Teradata tools (ex BTEQ, SQL Assistant, TPUMP, TD Administrator, ODBC, MLOAD, Fastload, etc)
- Experience in setting up and maintaining Teradata stats
- Proficient with Teradata At Your Service
- Proficient in Red Hat Linux and Teradata SQL.
