I do not agree that there is any evidence that RSS links played the role. And even if there is a link RSS is the only organization in the country which is truly nationalist . Let me put it on record I am neither a RSS member nor a political activist.

Subject: Re: [MTC Global] Irani rejects Kakodkar's views on IIT Director's appointment
There were critical articles on appointment of IIT directors and University VCs before also. Favoritism has become the order of the day. It was evident even during Vajpayees' tenure, not alone in Congress rule. Minister are not regular employees and have the advantage of secretariat. Their job is to act as per the rules without favor to any. They donot require any probation for this. Ministers may not hold that post even five years as the PM has the right to change as he wishes.
The criticism is not following the rules and norms to identify the right people and the appointment process. Here, in the present case, it is evident that RSS links played a role.

Is it not a good sign that after taking over the Central Govt. by BJP Indian political parties, media and even Aam Adami have become more vocal?
I wonder if such discussion had taken place earlier any time since 1950 or so.
Is it not necessary to follow some code of conduct to criticise the ministers or their activities? Had it so happen in the past? Will it not be fair to give two years probation period to all new ministers, entered first time after almost 60 years, as we put all employees from clerk to IAS/IPS officers on two years probation?
Is democracy meant for non-constructive criticisms only? Do we remember such deliberations while making appointments of VCs, IIT/IIM Directors, etc., earlier? If there no such deliberation or a little deliberation, can we assume every thing was in place and in order?
I am neither a statesman, nor a politician, nor after any personal gains, nor connected with any political party but a core ardent student habituated to analyse what is going on around.
I sincerely apologize if something is written/expressed in-descent/contrary to somebody's views.

This is exactly what happens when a person who doesn';t have either adequate experience or the necessary skill sets required to manage such an important portfolio takes decisions on her own. Coupled with the arrogance of being a Neta...when they try to justify their decisions by throwing muck on the experience and expertise of people who are way ahead of them only just irks them further. No doubt she is a good spokesperson which most of the politicians become over a period of time with the exposure to public dealings and some fast track trainers/handlers outsourced by the party for image building and personality development but when the false ceiling of artificial creation dashes against a solid foundation of education and experience.... the falsehood is exposed. We all know how Ms.Irani tried to flaunt a training certificate of Yale University as additional qualification.
Besides the vacancies in IIT';s.....the premier Academic Institute for school curriculum development ; NCERT - which is directly under the MHRD has also been without a Director now for 7-8 months. Also the Campus which once was vibrant and picturesque is now desolate & wears a picture of almost a bombed city ( thanks to the apathy of management and their collusion with CPWD ). While Ms. Irani is training her guns on Congress & Rahul Gandhi visiting his home turf Amethi for another challenge/engagement after loosing out in elections earlier this year. So her focus too is off from Education Ministry which she was assigned. Not to mention of the publicity stunt with Media she garnered in during her Goan Holiday by taking on FAB India....all these showcase her inexperience showing how novices could play havoc in a party claiming to rebuild the nation after a campaign belittling another party by condemning for 60 years of ruins and then themselves indulging in activities which only ruin it even faster.

Stephen

Some problem with the present MHRD. The kind of decisions taken and differences with the top academicians reinforce the fact..........
Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani has rejected the views of nuclear scientist Anil Kakodkar on the selection process of directors of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Kakodkar, who resigned as chairman of the board of governors of IIT-Bombay in March following differences with the MHRD, had said that the process to select directors of these prestigious seats of learning was casual in nature.
"I strongly protest that kind of an allegation. Paper work will show that within the legal framework, everything was done as per rules," Irani said.
Irani said, "To cast aspersions on the office of the President of the country, a Visitor of IITs, is extremely unfortunate".
Kakodkar, whose tenure was supposed to come to an end in May, this year has, however, agreed to continue till that period.
IIT-Delhi director R Shevgaonkar resigned last December with more than two years of his tenure left amid a controversy over alleged pressure by the Ministry on him.
The appointment of directors was relating to three IITs, IIT-Bhubaneshwar, IIT-Patna and IIT-Ropar, the selection of which was now complete, reported DNA.
