Re: [MTC Global] [Weekend Big Debate-I] How would you rate the quality of education in India?

I don't think much needs to be done rather education has to understand and implement two things-

1) we have to shift from teaching to Learning from ideologies to ground implementation.

2) all stakeholders involved should get serious about health of education and start carrying the change whatever we at individual level and professional capacities.

Thanks to Prof. Goelji and agree the impact, as rightly pointed by him, of culture on students.

However, this is not applicable to only at international level. Look at the students from Bihar or UP or NE States studying in Pune. Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, etc. are more agile, competitive and wiser because of obvious reasons, they witness the cultural changes while travelling through many states, come across the local wisdom (that may not be truly local based), etc. I know parents in Maharashtra prefer to place their wards in Pune (not in Mumbai!) for education not because Pune has very competent education system (I spent in Pune over 13 years in Govt. run college and 11 years in a private institute, and education is costlier) but because of the unique ambiance that Pune provides to students.

It is very difficult to understand and pinpoint what the education/ambiance stands for. Analysis can be done considering n+ parameters but its application may not guarantee always fruitful and useful outcome. It is something like this:

I have to analyse how the fragrance of a flower is created. I take a microscope, pluck petals one by one, put it under the microscope, jot down my observations and lo! I have wonderful analytical conclusions,  but in the whole process the fragrance is disappeared and only petals in crushed form left over.  I am sure that such an analysis of education/ambiance fails in many cases like Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Jytirao Fule, Ramanujam, Thomas Alva Edison, Ramkrishna Paramhansa, S Jobs, Dhirubhai Ambani, and many more.

Let me recall here one directive as per Indian ancient culture/tradition that the persons who aspire to be knowledge Gurus must be on wheels. All saints and Sadhwis (e.g. Jain or Boudhdha)  are advised not stay at one place for a long time except during rainy season. As we know all Hindus or Muslim aspire to visit the places like Varanasi, Mathura, Dwaraka, Rameshwaram, Puri, Badrikenath, Madina, Mecca, etc, I sincerely feel after visiting these places a person turns to be wiser and is respected by society. What is the secret?
