Re: [MTC Global] Finally, India will produce fewer lousy engineers every year

We have to consider the followings:
  1. What is the cost of education incurred by the A to A++ institutes?
  2. Are we really following inclusion principle in education without compromising with quality assurance?
  3. Will not students turn to Distance Education?
  4. Is it not that we hardly take care of the spirit and soul of education from national point of view?
  5. What is the  % wastage in terms of time and money in Indian institutes scenario?

Dear All,

The ranking-wise analysis of the running institutes will be quite helpful, leaving alone A++ and A+ institutions since institutions below C-level have already been closed by AICTE.

  • The institutions who could get admissions to fulfill their intake-capacity, to be categorized at A-level who would like to achieve A+ and A++ (most preferred institutions) status with cut-off levels quite high and getting higher; these institutions may be having adequate core strengths to come up with Institution-specific-solutions for proactive creation, evaluation and revision of curricular experiences which guide student learning; expert lectures may be offered by the MTC_Global community to enhance their efforts.
  • MTC_Global has already offered helping hand to the B level to rise to A level through Center of Excellence initiatives and accreditation.
  • The border line organizations, self assessed under C-group, who have some-how scarped through this year, may have to verify that their activity-based-costing of the academic-programs are crystal clear; the break-even level of admissions can be accordingly worked out, to focus resources on core-goals, shifting funds from programs that aren't productive to activities that truly drive growth of the Institution, under such crisis-situation, seeking AICTE's assistance for modernization and quality assurance.

Warm regards,

G.S.Autee

Thanks Dr Natarajan for your views.

It is a pity that in many institutes the curriculum is abysmally hackneyed and outdated.  No doubt that garbage curriculum will produce garbage output.

I look after the subjects MIS and Marketing and I have to abide by the syllabus. But I go out of the way to ensure that the latest development in IT and marketing are covered.   The students are receptive and they feel more comfortable in absorbing the latest instead of the history.

I had spent almost 34 years in system integration and marketing in CMC (now TCS) and observed over the time how customers have changed. We are now into a more flattened organization where the client CEO interacts directly with the development team and wants to get inside the brasstags of reality. It's their prerogative and we have to put up with that and explore how we can relate ourselves better.  Much of relationship marketing has pervaded into business space hitherto gone unnoticed by  the syllabus designers.

Technology, business concepts are changing every year and the fact is: it is not easy to change the syllabus accordingly. Faculty has a significant role to play by owning the responsibility to deliver what is wanted in the market.

Warm regards

Dr Biswas

Not all private colleges are starving with students, there are some going strong in this market - how? It is important to think over these points.

Expecting any quality improvement after reduction of seats will be disappointing. We are still far away from a competitive spirit based on the quality. It will perhaps take few more years before crisis of survival reaches its peak and process of quality education becomes a necessity for every institution.
