Re: [MTC Global] Subramanian Swamy calls JNU students, teachers ‘naxalite’

There is an Old English saying: Empty Vessels make more sound. So the adage is proved correct over the years...knowing fully that he is neither qualified nor fit for the post...he perhaps wanted to pre-empt making himself a laughing stock and hence the water mouth Swami rolled out the jibes. We all know the qualification of the HRD Minister...so the lesser said on the matter, the better.

A clarification has come from MHRD minister that she is not entitled to make any recommendation hence news is baseless. I think she further clarified that Subramaniam Swamy is not eligible for this post too as per the criteria laid down.

Subject: [MTC Global] Subramanian Swamy calls JNU students, teachers 'naxalite'

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has courted yet another controversy by calling the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students and teachers 'naxalite'.

Amid reports about him being considered for the post of JNU Vice Chancellor, Swamy also took a jibe over the education qualifications of the first prime minister of the country Jawaharlal Nehru. While answering to a question about his recommendation for renaming the prestigious university after freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose, Swamy said that Netaji was far more educated than Nehru.

"I have recommended the renaming of JNU after Subhas Chandra Bose. Bose was far more educated than Jawaharlal Nehru," he said.

Reportedly, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has offered the post of JNU VC to Swamy, but he has put some conditions before accepting the coveted post. However, there was no official communication from the Ministry.

The current VC SK Sopory is set to retire in January next year. As per the rules, a panel of names selected by the committee is sent to the President (who is Visitor of the central varsities) by the MHRD before the announcement of the new VC, reported India Today.
