At last Saturday, the 5th September, teacher;s day is joyfully over, students and teachers are coming, wishing me happy day, showing respect to me, some of them even offer me rose flowers too. Thus, the happy teacher day is over.
Today being Sunday I got up somewhat late. My wife gave me a cup of tea. I was surfing the net. I have received many e-mails expressing happy teacher-day to me. Some of them even mailed beautiful quotes and some wonderful images.
All thanks to Prof. Autee who has sent me a greeting e-mail, quoting the quotes:
"Hon'ble President Of India has wonderfully defined the vast scope of our destined role in the education space.
- "An inspired teacher is value-oriented, mission-driven, self-motivated and result-oriented.
- He links the individual goals of students to national goals and enables them achieve their full potential."
It is true, it is really a wonderful definition of a teacher we often hear. The teacher is bigger than any body else involved in other areas of profession. Teacher moulds the present and future generations, responsible for generating doctors, engineers, politicians, scientists, businessman, architects, IAS, IPS, defense personnel, teachers too and what not.
Thus, the teacher is a superb perfect leader by definition (inspired, value-oriented, mission-driven, self-motivated and result-oriented (I am poor in English, is there any adjective left over?). Many CEOs, the corporate great leaders, are sumptuously rewarded, sometimes Rs 1.5 crore pa, who align their individual goals to company goals but a teacher is called upon to link students' individual goals to national goals, and in the process; many a times a teacher forgets his own goals!
That is why is it that, as the saying goes,Laxmi and Saraswati do not reside together, the teachers, called aptly as Gurus, in ancient India culture, were poor, sacrifice was their nature, and so on so forth? Teachers are happy with the 6th CPC or whatever they get called as contractual fixed salary, eagerly awaiting for the 7th CPC and do not demand OROP. Indian teachers are really exemplary. At least on 5th September every year people gratefully wish them a happy teacher's day!
