Assistant Professor – Tenure Track Position

Child Nutrition

The Department of Nutritional Sciences, School of Environmental and Biological Sciences at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is inviting applications for a tenure-track position with rank of assistant professor in the area of child nutrition. The appointment start date is September 1, 2016.

The responsibilities of this faculty member include establishing an independent, externally-funded scholarly program in child nutrition, mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, teaching courses within the nutritional sciences major or related programs of study, and providing professional service and leadership at the university and national levels. The successful candidate will improve the health of children in New Jersey and throughout the nation by conducting novel and collaborative research utilizing the schools and campuses at Rutgers University.

Minimum qualifications: PhD or equivalent in nutrition, nutritional sciences, child development, developmental psychology or related field from an accredited university. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, scholarly publications in refereed journals, evidence of internal and/or external grantsmanship experience, and a record of professional service proportionate with experience are required.

Desirable qualifications include: RD (RDN) credential, post-doctoral training, and college-level teaching experience. Previous involvement with nutritional, dietary, behavioral, or developmental studies in children of any age is of particular interest.
