Senior Java Developer

West Chester, PA

Longterm Contract

F2F

 

Comcast Cable

 

**Seeking a full-stack developer, with strong skill set in both middle-tier (Spring, Hibernate, Web Services, Shell scripting), and Front-end (Javascript).  Continuous Integration, Deployment, and Agile experience also required.   Any big data, Hadoop, HBase, MapReduce experience a big plus.  

 

 

Demonstrates senior-level responsibility for the development of Java applications for both client and server side systems and participates in application architecture development and design decisions. The candidate will be responsible for creating components within Java, utilizing standard Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), writing unit test cases and supporting the Testing and Quality Assurance phases of the software development lifecycle. Participate in design and architectural discussions and must possess superior Java/J2EE and Big Data skills, including Hive, HBase, MapReduce and Storm.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years' experience as systems analyst/designer
• Design and Architecture using object-oriented methodologies and tools
• Experience as senior-level Java developer/analyst required
• 10+years' experience developing with Java-based framework and open source technology, Oracle or SQL Server development
• 5+ years' experience with Spring and ORM tools, experience with development tools such as Eclipse and Maven
• 3+ years working with Big Data. Familiarity with Hive, HBase, MapReduce and Storm.
• Experience working with UI development and using frameworks such as Bootstrap
• Exposure to Agile (TDD) methodology

Responsibilities:

• Design and Develop enterprise applications using Object-Oriented methodology within an agile framework.
• Develop Java Components, Create database objects to support components, Utilize commercial off-the-shelf and open source technologies.
• Write Unit Test Cases, Contribute to Design Service Domain solutions for key business initiatives.
• Understand and code to application requirements and use cases, identify functional test scenarios in line with business objectives, support testing and documentation efforts.
• Interact with experts from support teams regarding the definition and application of non-functional requirements for the solution to be developed.
• Work on User Interface centric applications using Bootstrap frameworks.

 

QUALIFICATION NOTES:

Team: 

Changed over to EPS – enterprise platform services, but primarily supports Spotlight back office application, internal apps that Comcast Sales/Marketing primarily use (ie check ad verification, systems used to evaluate quantity/regions of ads, large quantities of data parsing).  

 

Need:

Too many projects, not enough developers

 

Requirements:

The resource is expected to be Senior level (open to different years of exp, 10+ preferred),  will need to be a self-starter, supporting numerous small application projects-  end to end.   Need someone capable of making dev decisions, leading project through deployment, no hand holding.  Full stack development through continuous integration and deployment (enhancements, lots of new dev, as well as maintenance and troubleshooting).   Seeking strong skill set in BOTH server-side development and UI development.  Spring, CI tools (Jenkins, Hudson), deployment exp, and Javascript all very important.   JS frameworks such as angular or bootstrap a plus. 

 

Need to be able to work in a fast-paced, small team environment.  Agile experience a must. 

 

Open source environment - encourage recommendations on new technologies, candidate is free to choose 

 

Other technologies preferred: 

-Spring Batch, Shell scripting for parsing data, REST and SOAP, Hbase (maybe MongoDB), Hadoop, Kafka, Mapreduce, Storm

-Big Data experience is secondary preferred skill, as they will have ability to jump in to support these projects too.
