RE: [MTC Global] Former cab secy to head panel to draft new education policy

The MHRD had circulated to all VCs of all universities a 20 pt theme soliciting the opinion of the  vcs. The mhrd had asked for soft and hard copy.
Many of us hv submitted. On behalf of my VC I had prepared the same and sent it after it was vetted by my vc.
So it is wrong to say that the government has not consulted  any body.
There is nothing wrong in asking the cabinet secy to now study the  views and prepare the new educational policy

thanks and with kind regards,

Some of the strangest words are being used by some of us against this government without realizing the inherent contradiction! If there was intolerance to such an extent that individual freedom is in danger then how come people are speaking against the government at various fora without fear of retribution?

If one has decided to criticize, then even the appointment of academicians can be challenged – who, why, old-timer, RSS bent and so on! My sympathies are with the PM who by some is said to be the weakest ever the country had, and by some as a Hitler and dictator and now fascist! No wonder many of our brethren were working overtime to stop him from being invited at prestigious Institutions and to meet CEOs of knowledge-companies but without success.

At least we can be more discreet and decent in this forum.

I hope this mail gets published.

Kindest regards.

Let us see the other side of the coin:

  1. Govt. circulates a public notification for public views in the matter. How many faculties and educators respond?  For example.  The preceding NCP-Congress Govt. of Maharashtra through public notification appealed for views for the the New University Act, Maharashtra, 2011 draft prepared by Hon. Nigvekar and Bansal Committees.  As I know a very few constructive suggestions have been made by public, faculties and educators.
  2. The Expert Committee is appointed as per the State Code by a bureaucrat like some Secretary and some experts close to bureaucracy or already holding some (present or past) key posts get nominated. The Govt. is unable to find out the hidden thread and the Panel is  set. If the Govt. appoints somebody else,  not put up by the Secretary,  of her choice  today's  Govt. is badly criticised by the elites on unfounded grounds. Did we hear such criticism earlier during the period 1947-2014? Never. Is it not true?
  3. Academicians need to be men of reason and tolerance.

I AGREE WITH DR BINAYAK RATH FOR HIS CANDID VIEWS. ONE CAN IMAGINE  WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO EDUCATION UNDER INTOLERANT FACIST GOVERNMENT REGIME.

Dear all,
It is ridiculous that we are making Education Policy without any
educationist/ academician. How come the MHRD finds no academician
worthy to head the New Education Policy panel? This speaks of the
mind set of Mr Modi Government. One can imagine what will be the
fate of this policy, where there is no place for academicians and
teachers at the grass root level. After all, all bureaucrats are
alike and they know how to please the bosses / masters. So the new
policy would  indirectly fulfill the aspirations of the present
Government. All of should protest to the policy of the Government.
