Dear Sir, The Phd Holders do not want to pursue research of which there is
no dearth of work in any field. They in their wisdom have felt that the job
of a Govt peon is better than any other job.
The peons job provides a steady salary and pension on retirement. There is
no responsibility beyond the routine work that does not demand much
thinking.
There are no transfers since a peon is rarely transferred.
There are plenty of Govt holidays and leave. In fact in a Govt office worksa
man can work less than 180 days -( 5 days a week,+30 days PL +20 days SL and
12 days casual leave. Festivals and Memorials account for another month or
more). A person with other interests can easily develop a second source of
income by running a small business.
Considering these positives, the peons job compares favorably with being
self employed or even working in a small firm.
But this is a loss for the world of academics and research.

That the fact if over 2 lakhs  overqualified candidates including PhD and
professional degree holders are applying for the post peons reflects the
followings:
The quality of degrees offered by AICTE approved institutes and universities
is questionable.Who is responsible that such degree holders remain
unemployed years together?Is it not the failure of National Manpower
planning?Is it not the failure of the Govts. those were in power then?Are
the regulatory bodies like AICTE, UGC, Universities, NBA, NAAC, etc., 
dependable? Where is the quality assurance talked too much but not walked by
these agencies? Is it not public and national cheating?
Can  the present Govt. be held responsible for the mess? What actions the
present Govt.  are expected to take for the sins of other Govts. that were
in power over 60 years? Even if, they intend to take some corrective
measures,  will the opposition political parties cooperate with them in the
national interests beyond party politics?Jai Ho!

As per October national Newspapers and TV..... In UP for 368 peons posts of
5th std qualification...applicants are 255 PhDs, 10000 MBAs, + BTechs +
MTechs+ MCAs= 2 lakhs. These are all genuine degrees from AICTE approved
Universities. None from fake Universities. Why such poor condition. Is not
credibility is lost. Can you please throw some light. Regards, Manotosh
