I am truely happy and proud of Prof J B G Tilak for this rare and brilliant achievement with whom I had the opportunity to work for more than four years at NIEPA (NUEPA). He is a great academician and motivator for whom I could finish my research work in time. Once again i congratulate Prof Tilak for adding feathers to his cap.

Prof Tilak has authored/edited dozen books and about 300 research papers in the area of economics of education and development studies, published in reputed journals. Recipient of    Swami Pranavananda Saraswati National Award of the UGC for his outstanding scholarly research in Education (1999), Dr. Malcolm Adiseshiah Award for distinguished research contributions to development studies (2003) and Inspirational Teacher of the Year Global Education Award 2012, Dr Tilak had a privilege of delivering a keynote address to a meeting of the Noble laureates in Barcelona in 2005.

The Dewang Mehta Awards recognise talent and leadership among the individuals and educational institutes across India and a person's role in leadership, development, innovation, and industry interface of the Institute.

The awards are presented in the memory of the Late Dewang Mehta.  

In addition to recognizing Prof Tilak's individual contribution, the National Univeristy of Educational Planning and Administration is conferred with 23rd Dewang Mehta Best School Leadership award in the same function.
