Re: [MTC Global] [Year End Big Discussion] What Will It Take ToCreate AWorld-class B-School In India?

A few queries:

  1. What is the feasibility of churning out industry ready students?
  2. Is it possible to turn graduates for industry world that constitutes various types of industries?
  3. There are several jobs available in other sectors like defence, banking, services, trading, tourism, catering, teaching, media, journalism, food processing, housekeeping, etc., where even today many professional graduates do get place.
  4. I would like to present a statement of (L) GP Nagarkar, Principal, Govt. Engg College, Aurangabad, made in an assembly met sometimes in 1960s "We prepare and train graduates for general engineering so that an employer can use them effectively after a few months' on-job-training in industry concerned. It is not wise to prepare industry ready (?) students"
  5. Do we not know that selectees of IAS/IFS/IPS/IOF/IRS , etc. cadres are trained for 2 years training?

Suggestion of Xavier Sir merits serious consideration. The main complaint against our business management students is their inability to understand the expectations of the industry and not rising to the occasion, i.e.,employability.
When closer ties are ensured and established students could be prepared as per the requirements of industry. Syllabus will be as per the ground realities and captains of the industry will add to the academic inputs.  While b schools would love to catch this opportunity with both the hands response of the industry is to be seen.
