[MTC Global] Happy fatties

Dear friends,

Good morning.

Happy  fatties.

Happy fatties' attract shoppers in east China
Weight is not an issue for some of the sculptures that have taken over a market square in the eastern Chinese city of Ji'nan, Shandong Province.
A series of installation art with playful overweight people are the latest attraction at Quancheng Road. According to an artist surnamed Wang, his works are titled "Happy Fatties."
"One of them is resting on the wall and looking at the busy street outside as a new day begins. Then he wakes up his friend to join the fun in such a hurry that the man forgets to put on clothes," Mr. Wang explained the idea behind the artwork.
While the artwork is a part of publicity to draw more customers into the shopping area, there is also an underlying message encouraging people to be comfortable with one's body type and image.
However, this is not the first time that the artwork has been made public. Last year, they were removed due to public criticisms after many suggested that the installation could be mistaken for Buddha and offend his followers.
