I totally agree. The claim is as baseless as it's unscientific. Binka has a significant Muslim (Hausa and Fulani) population that is not a majority of the village.

The claim that "the greater population of Binka is Moslem" needs to be verified. A counter claim could be that Moslems are not the greater population of any Wimbum village (not that there is anything wrong with a Wimbum village becoming predominantly Moslem).

Hahahah Mr Tanwarong, I think there is more to the Fon's endeavour than nature of marriage. Even the news media you copied from, does not have details.

Why would the Fon open a Church being a Baptist?

Is he really the pastor of the Church? Or is he a mere sponsor or patron?

Before this move, what was the Fon's perception of wimbum traditional religion as was reflected in the way he ran the affairs of Binka village?

Why would he establish a christian-like church instead of an Islamic-like one given that the greater population of binka is moslem?

How does this church actually operate? What is the nature of a typical worship? Is it on Sundays or any other day?

How much support of his village has he gathered, even if the supporters don't attend his Church? Why?

Does his quest stand in the way of his governing his people? And how?

What i am pressing here is that we have inadequate information to offer any constructive debate or opinions on the issue. We cannot really rely on half truths to negate or affirm his endeavor.

On the other hand, if its about biblical authority on the nature of marriage, its a whole separate issue. Those who do not possess biblical hermeneutical authority are not also worthy to interpret for Christians. Whether Catholic or which organization, has a system's interpretation lens through which their theologians see. The bible is not the final authority for all christian organizations.

If you want to know why marriage,according to some religious bodies, is preferably one man to one woman or that gay marriage is forbidden, or why priests most be wifeless, ask the appropriate biblical interpreters or religious authorities. Then you can follow with a critique.

The Fon has done a thing which till now remains the operation of what seems to be a Christian Church. We don't yet know the full story.
