Description
The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for infrastructure implementations based on designs from infrastructure architects. This person must be willing and able to perform detailed technical analysis on the designs and provide appropriate feedback to the architects and to direct system administrators in their implementation. This will entail creating and modifying technical documents, maintaining artifacts in a project collaboration site, creating and monitoring requests to third party groups, and any other necessary task, including hands-on work that will bring a project to a successful conclusion. The ideal candidate would have experience in standing up and administering Data Warehouse systems.
Education/Experience
· Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field required
· 5+ years working experience in Unix/Linux Administration
· 5+ years working in IT development and/or technical support
Responsibility level
· Exercises independent judgment with minimal direction from supervisor
Skills
· Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills (Required)
· Strong ability to work independently and manage one's time (Required)
· Experience in setup and support of TeraData appliances/databases is preferred
· Strong ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue
· Experience with Data Warehouse Systems (Required)
· Experience in SQL administration and troubleshooting (Required)
· Advanced knowledge of scripting/automation
· Working knowledge of hardware, including RAID, multi-processor architecture, performance tuning
· Working knowledge of networking and how it relates to database operations and connectivity(required)
· Knowledge of Hadoop technologies
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project
· Approve, schedule, plan and supervise the installation and testing of new products and improvements to systems
· Develop standards and guidelines to guide the use and acquisition of software and to protect vulnerable information
