Re: [MTC Global] Only the Paranoid Survive : Intel's Andrew Stephen Grove died at age 79 on March 21 2016

Andrew Grove's death is really shocking to all of us. He was instrumental in bringing  revolution from  mainframe to microprocessor based technology . This has facilitated to all of us to become computer savv.

His sudden demise has indicated an end of an era. Let us pray to supreme power that his soul rests in peace.

Sorry to hear the sad demise of one of the greatest pioneer  who ushered in and led the PC revolution during the times of big mainframe computer and Apple's new found monopoly with small computer Mac, then! Was associated with their microprocessor chips starting from 8005 in college, to one higher ends processors used in industry later during motherboard circuit design and production along with software! They invested in research and development and rapidly came out with innovations and upgraded chips!

The Intel, Bill Gates of Microsoft and IBM teamed up to produce the IBM- compatible PCs which was based on open architecture and gave Apple a run for their money for their proprietary architecture! This led to more renewed and vigorous software development at that times. In the words of Steve Jobs of Apple then, they were very complacent and underestimated the competition; never thought that IBM , a mainframe maker would overtake them !.

Therefore, his memoir is an apt one for those who want to avoid complacency in business and life.

kind regards,

Dr.P.S.Raychaudhuri

Andrew Stephen Grove died at age 79 last month, having helped to build Intel into one of America's great companies with fierce competitive drive.

Grove ran Intel as CEO from 1987 to 1998, remaining chairman until 2005, intellectually active as ever.
Grove wrote one of the better business memoirs, "Only the Paranoid Survive." That's good advice for those who want to avoid complacency, in business or life, from a man who more than repaid America for the great opportunity it offered him.

What Grove learned, he has also taught. This he has done through his course at Stanford's Graduate School of Business during the past quarter century, through the half-dozen books and innumerable articles he has written, and through his hundreds of speeches. But most of all, Grove has taught and continues to teach by example. What he has done and what he has communicated have exercised a profound impact on business schools and business executives. This impact will prove lasting.

Grove: believed that truth and common sense mattered more than power or position
