RE: [MTC Global] [Weekend Big Debate- I] Further digitisation of Education should be discouraged.

To me digitization simply means reducing paper pollution. As far as good teachers are concerned, they are always in short supply. In my life I must have come across 60 or more teachers who taught me in classrooms. I only remember 3-4 who had any influence on me or had a lasting impact while growing up. And it was less about subject matter, their mastery or teaching skills; it was more about love, caring and compassion.
The digital era have ushered us into a new world where the best information, knowledge and wisdom is shared around the globe by click of a mouse. Not only we should welcome it but embrace it with full vigor.

Dear Sirs, What is digitization of education? Does it refer to the availability of the
lessons on the internet or the mode of imparting education via the digital communication
channels, or the videos recorded by some institutes and transmitted as substituting for
classroom teaching? If it is these, then already it is in prevalence.
In one sense it is good, because to the student, such forms of education are
inexpensive. To more serious learners, classroom teaching will always supplement their
learning.
It is always better to have a class with students eager to learn the subject, who
question the teacher in the class and who participate in the classroom activity to
further get knowledge in depth.Such classes automatically improve the teacher also.
I think on the whole, the trend should be welcomed.

Subject: [MTC Global] [Weekend Big Debate- I] Further digitisation of Education should be
discouraged. Many Educationists do not T subscribe to the notion that further
"digitisation of education" is a trend to be encouraged. To great extend their views are
substantial when we talk about suchneoliberal approach which emphasizes the deskilling of
teachers, the commodification of curriculum, the commercialization of research, the
ideological suppression of creativity and critical thinking and the overall degradation
of "education."But the way the technology is reshaping the education space, we are not
sure what would be the future of education in next 10 years. It would interested to have
the views of esteemed MTCians.Best Regards,EDUCATE, EMPOWER, ELEVATEProf. Bholanath
