Re: [MTC Global] Regarding the Qualification of M.B.A.Faculty

Dear Professors
Nice Discussion. The Discussion on the eligibility of an MBA Faculty should not be confined to Educational Qualification.Practical Exposure of an MBA Faculty Member is much more valuable.
I do not refer about the reality of the Educational Industry. We have to find Professors with enough Industrial experience in the relevant field of expertise(HR/Finance/Marketing,etc.,)for B Schools and MBA Institutions in order to ensure successful learning in Management Alma maters.

Dear all,
Whether MBA faculties are hired on the basis of specialization?
If it is not mentioned in the notification how the subject  will be allocated?
whether they will be considered as general faculty without taking into consideration of their specialisation?

Whether A Phd holder done PhD in HRM and  having specialisation(MBA) in Finance and Marketing  is eligible for teaching HR papers?

Dear Academic Brothers and Sisters

My point is that the interest and enthusiasm in teaching has declined, in place of Power and politics in teaching. Only when, i concentrate in teaching with missionary zeal, I can uphold the quality in MBA.

Dear Academicians,

The status of MBA Faculty Members are declining gradualy. The Management need only young faculty members, who have just come out from colleges, but with a First Class. In JNTU affilkiated colleges, the internal evaluation is 40 marks and 60 as external. The students secure 35 marks in Internal examinations and easily secure 50% in external exams. Therefore, First class in easy very much.
But the young faculty are ready to accept any amount  of salary which the college management too prefers on cost savings. but the quality is not counted. An experienced faculty that too with industry experience though preferred, but not appointed.

like these there are many more factors in discarding MBA faculty and engaging  the non-MBA faculty is on the anvil.

Dear Academicians & Researchers,

I can not say much about the eligibilities to be faculty in Management disciplines, but in engineering when we move higher in attaining qualifications i.e. to doctorate level then disciplines are merged with each-other. This fact is well understood & implemented by many institutions, therefore, few world reputed institutes including IITK conferring 'Doctorate (PhD) in Engineering' rather than mechanical engineering or else. They honor the fact that each & every bit of knowledge is sourced from the Nature, and we could not do mastery in all so we ourselves divided the knowledge in various disciplines/ departments. Therefore, not wrong in appointing faculty in an engineering discipline even s/he did degree in other branch of his/ her research/ experience belongs to other major/ minor department, and it does not seem void as Production person become professor in mechanical Engg as raised question in mail of Mr Naim. I support the appointment of faculty in other disciplines of engineering as I believe none research or knowledge solely belong to a particular discipline rather than belongs to a set of disciplines of science, engineering & technology. My concept is further supported by the fact none can make a single product through following solely the concept(s) of a particular discipline of science/ engineering/ technology. Can any one do? Surely not. All over what said is based on my own learning till the date.

Thanks & Best Regards

Dear Academicians,

Main Cause for this situation is the Non MBA faculty, Directors and higher Authority persons are dominating the MBA and having strong hold on University and UGC/AICTE ate some extend. these people are from Commerce Post Graduate and PhD from Commerce Faculty.
these people don't allow to set the independent functionality of Management Faculty.
mostly Directors are from Commerce faculty.

We also need to re-investigate what actually happens while recruiting faculty. Some university selection committees and PSCs do keep aside the norms. I just quote two examples:

  1. Production  man- UG/PG in Production Egg- selected for Mechanical posts when a number of UG/PG candidates were available in the parent branch. Believe in me Metallurgy man - UG, PG and PhD in Metallurgy-is appointed as Professor in Mechanical Egg.
  2. Long back in 1988, a guy with barely Second Class ME in Civil Egg was selected as Professor by one PSC while many PhDs from IITs were available.
  3. One Third Class BE was promoted to the post of Professor  (1980's or so case) and University admitted a a third class BE candidate  sometimes in 1995 for PhD when the university rule dictates no admission to PhD prg for III Class candidate. In fact the said candidate was  just declared in pass class as in 1985 exam. he passed by parts, not in one attempt.
  4. AICTE, University and Recruitment bodies need to be strictly adhered to the academic qualification norms that are often violated and once the selection process is over who will dare to cancel their appointments under our Democratic Pattern?
  5. The mindset is "I eat, you will also eat!".

Subject: Re: [MTC Global] Regarding the Qualification of M.B.A.Faculty

Good Morning to all,

A small doubt regarding U.G.C,/ A.I.C.T.E.

1. ALL THE COURSES REQUIRE ONLY 55% FOR THE ELIGIBITY FOR THE POST OF FACULTY.

2. BUT TO TEACH M.B.A. 60% IS REQUIRED.(Technical Courses)????????????

3. TO DO PH.D ONLY 55% IS ELIGIBLE

4.IT MEANS ALL M.B.A's CAN DO PH.D , BUT NOT ELIGIBLE FOR LECTURESHIP.

5.ANOTHER THING IS TO WRITE NET(National Eligilibity Test) 55% IS ELIGIBLE.(M.B.A ALSO).

6.THAT MEANS WHO HAS PH.D but do not have 60% CANNOT BECOME THE LECTURER FOR M.B.A.PROGRAMME  AND FOR THOSE WHO DONT HAVE 60% MARKS SHOULD  NOT BE GIVEN THE SEAT IN PH.D.ALSO.

FOR M.B.A. ASPIRANTS THOSE WHO ASPIRE TO WRITE N.E.T.SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED TO WRITE N.E.T.IF THEY POSSESS BELOW 60%.
Is it that, who possess 60% BELOW are not eligible for Post of Lecturer.

7. M.B.A.'s are not Eligible for Degree college lecturers, why is it .................?????//////

Is it Justifiable?????????

Finally, A SMALL QUESTION IS HOW MANY OF THE PROFESSORS IN THE UNIVERSITIES POSSESS THE M.B.A.DEGREE TO TEACH M.B.A.STUDENTS WITH MORE THAN 60% MARKS.

For the GREAT POST OF I.A.S. also they consider only 55%, but why for M.B.A.Teasching 60% is considered.
